In our first week we did not do much, other than a quick visit to the nurse at the Intercare for a weigh in and a growth check.
Kai’s discharge weight was 2.690 and on our first visit to the Intercare at One week Old the weigh in was at 2.780. A good 90grams up in just 4 days.
Our visitors during week one:
Margaret and Eugene
Week two we had another weigh in and a visit to the chiropractor, as Kai was struggling with some cramps. After 3 visits at the chiro this was sorted out quick, quick. A miracle cure! Aparently there is some missing bits when you give birth via a C-section as oppose to natural birth.
Our visitors during week two:
Claire James, Claudette, Elna, Aunty Jean, Tannie Ellie, Oom Pat, Elricka, Mom and Dad Borngraber
After our second visit to the chiropractor Mom and I stopped off at a farm stall en route back home after the chiro visit. This was Kai’s first visit to a restaurant! Two weeks old and already a social butterfly!
Week three I had to get my tooth fixed! Eventually. So off we went to the dentist. I have been with the same dentist since I was three, so Kai went to see Oom Apie, and we took some pics ofcourse!
Over the weekend Klaus and I took a drive down to the beach, for some KFC and had it down at the beach in the car.
Vistors during week three:
Nicolette, Elna, Uncle Jo and Aunti Jose, as well as Aunty Juta and Mom and Dad Borngraber.
Sadly Uncle Klaus passed away during this week as well. Kai was named after Klaus’s uncle Klaus Dieter, and he never got to meet Kai.
Week four, was yet another visit to the nurse, now at 3.560 kgs, and 52 cm tall. Klaus was on leave during this week, as he only took his paternity leave once my Mom went back to work. We decided to go visit my work as well this week. And ended up going to visit Granny at work! Poor little tyke had a busy week four!
Kai also had his first kiddies party this weekend. Little Micayla turned One, and we were off to her birthday party on Saturday.
Somewhere around the five week mark Klaus and I decided to buy a new car. A little I20 for me. I also had to go back to the dentist and had work started on a root canal!
Kai six week visit at the paediatrician went well, and he is super happy with the progress.
On his six week “birthday” he also got his jabs from the nurse at Intercare. Not fun, but he handled them like a little champ! No worries.
Our first sleep over at grannies also happened on the Friday nite at just six weeks and 1 day! Kai was not too happy with the change of environment initially, but soon adjusted, and spend the entire Saturday with Granny.
Night times are becoming MUCH better. Feeds are at about 11 pm then at about 3/4 and again at 7! So we are doing so well, and Kai is almost sleeping thru! It is awesome. He is such a little rock star!
